The Chaldean Catholic Church has historically been referred to as the Church of the Martyrs because of the countless attacks on its clergy, faithful people, and even the language itself. It has even been nicknamed the Red Church due to all the bloodshed and murder. After the devastating wedding incident in Baghdeda in 2023, I felt a sense of responsibility to help our people in some way. I came to the conclusion that I would use my skills and talents that God has blessed me with to find a way to give back to our community. I reached out to a few friends at Nineva Rising and they were very enthusiastic and supportive. They agreed that there was definitely an urgent need to help the people in our homeland, not only in Baghdeda but many villages in Iraq where our people are struggling in desolate conditions.
I decided to come up with a watch that I could design and build donating proceeds to the Catholic people in Iraq. I could utilize my 20+ years of skills and connections in the industry worldwide to source the components for a quality timepiece customized to my specifications. I wanted to create a watch that told more than time. A timepiece that would tell a story, one that was filled with meaning and tied to our rich history and tradition. Details down to the packaging, including the watch box and pillow have been carefully thought out and selected.
All the Church of the Martyrs watches come secured in a red and black box with a dark grey watch pillow Symbolizing the Red Church. The 10 numbered “Black Gold” watches will be true to the theme secured in an all black box with a black watch pillow. The hand wound 17 Jewel fully skeletonized “open works” movements are highly decorated and engraved similar to the detailed and intricate art of our people spanning back several hundreds of years. The Case has no branding or writing on it except for the Aramaic Yahweh ܞ which translates to “Holy Trinity One God”. I chose not to brand it or put my own logo because I didn’t want to detract attention from the actual cause, and I felt that nothing else would be appropriate.

–Black Gold $1250 limited to only 10 numbered pieces, features an all-black anodized hand wind mechanical movement even the buckle on the strap has been blackened. The name Black Gold symbolizes centuries of fighting over the rich land which sits on oil reserves and fertile soil all over the Middle East.
